Sunburst Appraisals was launched in the pursuit of offering competent and reliable valuation and evaluation services to the Central Illinois area. We offer the highest level of estate appraisal services to the community with respect, accessibility, and integrity. As members of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), our appraisers are highly trained in valuation and evaluation methodology. Appraisal Reports completed by Sunburst Appraisals are USPAP compliant.
Lauren Villarreal (She/They) is an Illinois transplant with a love for the community. She is an alumna of Richland Community College and Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. Lauren grew a vintage resale business for 10 years across several ecommerce and brick and mortar platforms before becoming an appraiser. After joining the International Society of Appraisers she found a career that built upon her expertise in commerce and collections, and also allowed her to expand her knowledge. In 2024, she was awarded the ISA Outstanding New Member, and in 2023 she was awarded the ISAEF Gold Scholarship.
Lauren also works alongside Lennie Rose with Lennie Rose Estate Appraisals, Inc. After completing a multi-year apprenticeship, she now holds the title of Technology Strategist with the firm. She uses her expertise in appraisal services and knowledge of business and technology strategies to bridge the physical world of beautiful things with the technological capabilities of the digital age. ABOUT USPAP
"The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) is the generally recognized ethical and performance standards for the appraisal profession in the United States. USPAP was adopted by Congress in 1989, and contains standards for all types of appraisal services, including real estate, personal property, business and mass appraisal. "

Appraisers cannot be certified in USPAP, nor can reports be USPAP certified. However, reports can be USPAP compliant if they follow the guidelines outlined in the current USPAP. All appraisal reports from Sunburst Appraisals are both USPAP compliant, as well as follow the ISA's Appraisal Report Writing Standards (ARWS).

“Things, not Real Estate” This is the quickest way that our lead appraiser, Lauren, describes how personal property appraisers differ from real estate appraisers. The International Society of Appraisers expands on this blurb, stating that personal property includes “any tangible or intangible article that is subject to ownership and not classified as real property” (ISA Core Course, 2021 Edition, L1-21)
